Any doctors on? catheter/swelling problem?

Hi. We are going through a temporary switch with our insurance with teachers retirement and don%26#039;t have the 1,000 detuctable or insurance until Sunday...Could really use your help.

My husband is a dialysis patient and is temporarily using a catheter until his fistula develops. Today he couldn%26#039;t run the dialysis machine on the full flow rate of 400---only 200 and ended up getting off early. Now where his catheter is, actually it is above it toward his neck, he has a lot of swelling. (The size of a soft ball.) He is going to put ice on it. We think it might be the way he slept last night.

Do you think this will be okay or what to do?

Thanks to anyone who responds.

the cathetar has likely ruptured, he needs to be seen asap, that rupture will cause an enormous clot that can break loose and travel and that could be fatal. ER NOW.
