What's your opinion about Denmark?

I live in Denmark. Here, only 2% of people go to church on a regular basis. Which means if you take 1000 danes at random, you can expect that the 980 of them never go to church (expect, possibly, at Christmas for traditional reasons). There is absolutely no evolution/creation %26quot;controversy%26quot; here. All schools, teachers, parents etc. agree that the only way to go is to teach evolution. The few %26quot;intelligent design%26quot; proponents are regarded as non-scientific and dogmatic by almost everyone, including the press.

There is absolutely no pressure to be religious, and nothing stigmatizing or wrong about publicly being an atheist.

What kind of nation is Denmark? According to http://www.infoplease.com/spot/corruptio... is the least corrupt nation in the WORLD.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/5224306.stm tells us that Denmark is the happiest nation on Earth.

http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw... us that Denmark has a very low violent crime rate.

What%26#039;s your opinion about all this?

What%26#039;s your opinion about Denmark?

I LOVE DENMARK ^_^!!! Hehe. And not just because my fiance lives there and I%26#039;m moving there this August. It%26#039;s a beautiful country and I absolutely adore it!

What%26#039;s your opinion about Denmark?

Denmark sounds exactly the same as us in the UK in it%26#039;s view of religion.

Good work (and thanks for Niels Bohr).

PS: Imagine a European politician saying %26quot;god advised me%26quot; as Bush has done!

What%26#039;s your opinion about Denmark?

don%26#039;t you guys make the wonderful shortbread cookies?

What%26#039;s your opinion about Denmark?

It%26#039;s no different here in Liechtenstein

What%26#039;s your opinion about Denmark?

You have made hitting children illegal also, if I recall correctly.

Sounds like a wonderful country.

(I live in Minnesota, and there are many people of Danish ancestry here. Nice folks.)

What%26#039;s your opinion about Denmark?

In the last 100 years, Denmark has seen a lot of drastic changes .........

What%26#039;s your opinion about Denmark?

Perhaps because religious history, with special emphasis on the Evangelical Lutheran faith, was taught in public schools? Could it be that the Danes continue to define themselves, as they have for a millennium, in Christian terms. Indeed, the government recently decided to implant the image of the crucifixion from the 10th-century Jelling Monument on every Danish passport as an emblem of national and cultural identity!
