Guitar Lessons?

Why can%26#039;t I find a decent rate for guitar lessons. People are charging rediculous amounts for lessons! As much as 50 dollars an hour! For guitar lessons! Nurses don%26#039;t even make that much, school teachers. They are asking this for guitar lessons. I mean 27-50 dollars an hour is bit much. I asked, %26quot;who is teaching the lessons Bono?%26quot; Nope. Where can I find guitar lessons in Washington state? We are on the eastside. Issaquah/Sammamish area. Would be willing to travel into Redmond or East Bellevue.

The common rate among guitar teachers is $15 to $20 for a half hour lesson ($30 to $40 an hour).

The prices usually go up or down depending on the playing level of the teacher. For example, if you are learning from an Elementary school music teacher that has only played for a couple years, then the price will be low. But if your teacher has gone to Berkley and got his/her Master in guitar and a Doctrate in Music Theory, then you can bet your life that your lessons will be expensive.

If money is a large obligation for you, I recommend teaching yourself. The biggest things to practice would be #1: Scales #2: Music Theory and #3: Chord, Chord Progressions, and Melodic Theory.

This all seems to be really scary, and even when you are skimming books for a good one, you will be intimidated. That is ok, everyone has to start out somewhere!

You must remember that you will have to learn the boring stuff before you can enjoy the fun stuff, so stick it out and don%26#039;t give up.

I hope this helps, feel free to email me if you (or anyone else) needs help in guitar.

Good luck,

Charlie

If I were you i would get a book and teach yourself. I did.

Guitar Lessons?

Learn to read tabs and teach yourself. The lessons help a lot though.

Try the music department at your local community college. Inexpensive and gain other benefits, too. Private lessons from an individual or a retailer that sells instruments will ALWAYS put a dent in your fender. (pardon the pun.)

My husband teaches and gets $20 for a half hour lesson. If there are only one or two teachers in your area, you%26#039;re stuck paying what they ask. Hopefully, they%26#039;re worth it. You can get good instruction books on Amazon.com. many with CDs included so you can hear what you%26#039;re supposed to sound like. Check the local music stores -- I mean stores that sell musical instruments, sheet music and supplies.
