AP vs. IB Program?

Ok so i am in the eighth grade and i have to chose between two schools one school has AP the other has IB

As of now i am in the Pre-IB Program and i am the top student

But here is the catch

The IB high school is very poor and located in the ghetto. the school is somewhat split between General and IB. The IB program is wonderful . but there are very few extra ciricular activities and it is a D rated school (due to the general) A lot of bad people go there but they don%26#039;t really intermix. i heard the program has plenty of benefits but it is all self study the whole year. the teachers don%26#039;t teach at all. but it has IB and i like the Pre-IB.

Now the school with the AP program is very rich. They have everything and is a A-B rated school. But it is AP and i really like challenging schools. But this school has better teachers.

But i have never experienced the AP program so i can%26#039;t say i like IB more

i want to become an engineer or doctor. so what school and why?

AP vs. IB Program?

Go with the school that has better teachers. You will learn more and in both the short and long run that will benefit you.

AP vs. IB Program?

Well, if you are an IB student it probably means you are pretty motivated. But I will warn that self-guided learning is a bigger responsibility than most people think. I had quite a few friends who attended a self-guided school that completely ****** them over. It taught them bad study/work habits and just generally messed them up. I%26#039;m automatically leary of it, however, if you are determined I suppose you could definately avoid the problems they encountered.

I myself did the AP programe. Pretty similar situation, too. Ghetto-*** school had the IB. Boarding school had AP. I quite enjoyed the APs actually. They were challengin but ... rewarding. But I hadn%26#039;t experienced the IB programme so I am in no place to compare them.

Is there maybe a way you could tour/spend a day in the classrooms of both before deciding? See what classes and school is like? Or talk to a counsellor from each?

I%26#039;d personally chose the AP programme because, hey, I%26#039;ve been in their system and got the personal experienced. Additionally, as you can tell, I detest self-learning. But it%26#039;s ultimately your choice...

Good luck.

AP vs. IB Program?

While the IB program sounds great and everything, I personally would go with the AP program (and I am in it actually). I%26#039;ve always thought IB and AP were somewhat similar other than providing college credits. Take the AP, its challenging and its more widely known.
