Paul is speaking to the church in Phillippi who are christians telling them to put no confidence in the flesh.

Verse 3 - When a person believes he or she is a circumcised person because of the worship in spirit and in truth. John 4:24. Romans 2:29.

Verse 5. His original circumcission in here is according to the commandment given to Abraham by God to circumcise the flesh of sons as an indication of a separated people of God. Genesis 17:9-14. Levicticus 12:1-3.

Verse means all the advantages of an Israelite with honour and respect he held among the jew as well as his future with them, he counted it loss for Christ because of the new commandment which is spiritual and eternal.

Verse 9 - To be found in Christ is not of his own righteousness according to the law but the righteousness of God in Jesus making a person new - 2 corinthians 5:17. 1 Corinthians 1:30. and by faith - Romans 3:22.

Verse2 - Is a warninng against Judaizers who are called evil workers here who conduct circumcission of the flesh as equal to heathen practices in mutaling certain parts of the body.

A circumcised person is a person who believes in Christ and not of the old testament laws.
