Help wih my teachers twisted questions! he doesn't teach us?

H. Lloyd earns variable commission as follows: Up to $25,000 8%, Excess of $25,000 to $40,000 10%, More than $40,000 12%. What is his gross pay on net sales of $42,000?

Roberts Department Store marks up its sundries by 28% on the selling price. If a 6.4 ounce tube of toothpaste costs $1.65, what will the selling price be?

C. Pratt has now earned $89,500 for the year, so far. Next week she earns $1,050. What will be her total FICA deduction (Social Security and Medicare combined). Social Security base is $87,900. Social Security rate is 6.2%. Medicare rate is 1.45%.

Ben earns $9.25 per hour. How much would he earn in overtime pay if he works 47 hours and 45 minutes. Round only the final answer.

Round to nearest cent.

Question: Toll%26#039;s Variety Store sells an alarm clock for $14.75. The alarm clock cost Toll $9.90. What is the markup amount as a percent of cost?

Round to nearest whole percent.

These are NOT twisted questions. If you want someone to do yout homework for you better find someone in the neighborhood and pay them for the service. These questions are the same questions you will be confronted with in life. If you cannot figure them out now, you are sunk.

These questions are merely math problems (addition, subtractions, multiplication, etc) dressed up as situational experiences. Your job (what you need to learn) is how to take a situational problem and extract the math components from the situation and rearrange it and solve it mathmatically.

In life, NOONE is going to separate the math from the problem for you. If you can%26#039;t get a feel for the situation in your life you will never be able to function properly

Come on this stuff is easy

Help wih my teachers twisted questions! he doesn%26#039;t teach us?

sale price of clock = $14.75

cost of goods sold = $9.90

markup = 14.75 - 9.90 = $4.85

markup as a percentage of cost = $4.85/$9.90 = [fill in]

Assuming a 40-hour week, Ben works 7hr45min overtime.

Overtime pay = 7.75 * 9.25 =

Commission of H. Lloyd:

= 0.08($25,000) + 0.1($40,000 - $25,000) + 0.12($42,000 - $40,000)

= $2,000 + 0.1($15,000) + 0.12($2,000)

= $2,000 + $1,500 + $240

= $3,740

Price of toothpaste:

Let x = selling price of 6.4-ounce tube of toothpaste

0.28x = x - $1.65

0.72x = $1.65

x = $1.65/0.72

x = $2.29 1/6

Answer: the selling price of toothpaste is $2.29 1/6 (exact)

Proof:

$2.29 1/6 - $1.65 = 0.28 * $2.29 1/6

$0.64 1/6 = $0.64 1/6

C. Pratt%26#039;s case is unclear to me. I won%26#039;t give an answer for fear that I would be giving you a wrong one.

Same is the case with with Ben. I don%26#039;t know how many hours one regularly works and the overtime premium when one works more than the required number per day.

Toll%26#039;s Variety Store:

= ($14.75 - $9.90) / $9.90

= $4.85/$9.90

= 48.99% (approximation)
