Is a person's credit rating taken into account when applying for a teaching job?

My sister wants to be a teacher- but she has bad credit- would a potential employer do a credit check before hiring her? Shes worried her past credit card debt might hurt her chances to landing a teaching job..

No and thank god. I also have bad credit and I still work in a school.

They will run a background check on you. But, it%26#039;s to make sure you have not committed any crimes, been in trouble with the law, etc.

No. I Don%26#039;t think they are even allowed to ask.

having bad credit is not a crime. they can only see if you have any criminal record.

Haha. No, not at all. If that were true, a lot of teachers would be out of luck. I%26#039;d tell your friend not to count on getting out of debt when going into a teaching career, though!

Sometimes...

When they do your background check, if there is ANYTHING wrong then there is a possibility they will. It all depends on the district / state laws.

Financial position of a person is no bar for any job. therefore credit card%26#039;s bad position does not reflect on any prospective job.

No don%26#039;t think so. They may want to know where she lives, like in the same district or not. Tell her to be prepared to work damn hard. I teach too.

Tell her not to teach in Kingman Kansas they do not run your credit instead they go over your bills that you are behind on with you and even during your evaluation. This is why this will be my Husbands last year of teaching here.
